Startups, Micro-businesses & Self-Enterprises face specific challenges in making a green transition and integrating sustainability into their operations. These arise firstly from the uncertainty of greening policies and secondly from the strain that greening may place on the limited resources of micro and small businesses.
The overall uncertainty in eco-innovation stems from either technology, demand or policy uncertainty. In addition, some of the key challenges that emerge are based on a lack of in-depth information about the opportunities. Therefore, the importance of new, innovative curricula for eco-innovation is essential and increasingly important in today’s business world. Embracing sustainability and adopting environmentally friendly practices offers numerous benefits for businesses, society and the planet.
With this in mind, the StartGreen project has been specifically designed to address the educational aspect of the issues that startups and micro-businesses face in making a green transition and integrating sustainability into their daily operations and business activities/services.
Activity 1 is a continuous process from project start to finish. Essential coordination and management activities ensure high-quality deliverables. Financial documentation, regular meetings, time management, and quality assurance will set priorities and define activities at each project stage, ensuring timely and high-quality outputs and results.
Activity 2 aims to create a Cost-Benefit Analysis (CBA) Expert Guide with essential data for the circular economy transition of Micro Businesses, Start-Ups, and Self-Enterprises. The CBA helps businesses assess the costs and benefits of green investments or sustainable decisions, enabling informed choices about economic viability and environmental impact.
Activity 3 will deliver the Green Transition Manual to educate Micro Businesses, Start-Ups, and Self-Enterprises. This Manual provides guidelines for transforming early-stage companies into sustainable workplaces with green service provisions. It includes training for managers and owners on reducing energy consumption, meeting environmental requirements, and introducing sustainable practices and smart technologies. The Green Transition Manual complements the CBA Expert Guide, helping to identify economically viable green strategies. It will be tested by VET and business sector representatives during Focus Group Meetings.
Having the the educational tools from Аctivity 2 & Activity 3, the Business Seminars of the Activity 4 will apply the proposed content directly to the target groups within the format of Business seminars- educational events/workshops aiming to provide valuable insights, knowledge, and skills to the participants related to green business management and training, sustainable entrepreneurship and eco-friendsly workplaces.
Just as the Activity 1, the Dissemination and Exploitation Activity will be implemented throughout the project lifecycle. It focuses on raising awareness and promoting project results to ensure successful transfer to target groups for sustainability. Active use of social media, distribution of materials, and organization of events will ensure high project visibility.
